Our theme for the August 1, 2017 UCTM conference was Maximize Mathematics Learning for All Students. This year, we are teaming up with the Utah State Board of Education SSIP implementation team to discuss how to help all students access and master grade-appropriate mathematics. We are inviting all Utah educators who provide or supervise math instruction to participate in this conference, including general mathematics educators, special educators, administrators, coaches, and related service providers. Our keynote speakers will be the authors of The Classroom Chef, John Stevens, and Matt Vaudrey. You do not want to miss this energetic duo discussing how to teach math to students so that they have opportunity to have choice, control over their learning, how to discuss mathematics in the classroom. Other national experts will also be featured. There is no cost to attend this conference, so we hope to see you all there on August 1 at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center.

Access Steve Leinwand's presentation here The UCTM Leadership Conference is held each year in conjunction with the annual UCTM conference. This is a smaller conference designed to meet the needs of mathematics leaders at many levels throughout the state. If you are a an elementary or secondary teacher leader, an administrator, a district mathematics specialist, or involved in post-secondary mathematics teacher training YOU can benefit from this conference. Spots are limited and fill quickly so register now if you are interested.
The 2015 UCTM Leadership Conference speaker was Steve Leinwand, chair of the writing committee for the NCTM book Principles to Actions. The conference focused on understanding DOK (depth of knowledge) and engaging students in tasks to deepen their understanding of mathematics.

Steve shared his Model Vision for Excellence in Mathematics and has made it available to us! Please take some time to study it and consider how you and the teachers in your district can work toward this vision.

Breakout sessions for Elementary and Secondary were shorter than anticipated because we were having a great time with Steve Leinwand.
